Recommendation 1 - Bayoneeta
She’s sexy and she knows it.
The recent developments have been a very sad result with the drama during the launch of Bayonetta 3 and Hideki Kamiya’s departure from Platinum games.
But let’s nto take away from the fact that at the least you have access to the game that started the whole franchise with the first Bayonetta.
Bayonetta 1 is really a game that should’ve stayed as a one game intellectual property but given the fact that sometimes some cows just have to be milked, hence Bayonetta 2 and 3 - much to increasing disappointment as time goes on.
But it’s important to know that although some will attribute this game as “a game of its’ time” and other platitudinous weasel wording in a 1 hour “video essay” that merely goes on to being an ASMR video in disguise in order to convince you that there’s something moral, ethically wrong and that you should feel ashamed that your hoo-hoo or ha-ha feels funny when you see a, could be interpreted as, a leather catsuit wearing long-haired English woman who’s penchant for Chupa-Chups (I’m assuming cherry flavored) who’s not only being sexy and cool, but allowing you to get in the groove of the game and that you keep up with the dancing while you’re at it.
Gameplay is key darling.
But it’s not all sex appeal and moistened lips as the true succulence is in the gameplay and it has many things to offer in spades.
Between combo challenges, upgrades, and even an inter-chapter challenge shooting gallery mini-game for bonus points, I have to be honest that Bayonetta isn’t so much as an action-adventure video game, it’s an arcade experience ported for the console.
And this is important to keep in mind because the truth of the matter is to any Platinum game is that it’s all about action.
If you know or have tried Devil May Cry then know this is a very refined version of such game.
Story
Who cares no one is paying attention when you’re distracted by the challenges and the constant innuendos and charms.
But there is something about time travel, meeting your inner child quite literally and witches, priests, and how one day the oldest story came about: boy meets girl, they do it, have a kid, and then both get punished because witches and priests and something-something Dra-Gu-La!
Soundtrack
“Fly Me To The Moon” is often a Jazz standard used in video gamed and anime to death but who am I to complain about Bart Howard’s jazz standard classic?
Other than that it’s the fast paced zip-zap-zoop of a kind of pop music that really spells the kind of optimism that surrounds the game.
Fun Factor
This game is fun. No question. There is a reason why this game got a sequel and that is because it is fun, very, very fun.
If you need to ask why the only thing I can say is that if you are a fan of Muhllennial memes such as Jet Set Radio, Tony Hawk Pro Skater, and Crazy Taxi, then you’ll definitely understand why Bayonetta is going to be fun.
If you don’t know about those games, well, you’ll just have to take my word and buy the game and try it it’s a nice guilty pleasure.
Final Score
Herp out of Derp. Highly Recommended.
